A moment we’ve been waiting for – welcome Iona
We have officially welcomed Iona to the P&O Cruises fleet. And as an Excel class ship, she has so many surprises in store. You can marvel at the beauty of the Norwegian Fjords from one of Iona’s many panoramic viewing spots, such as her brand-new Conservatory Mini-suites or luminous Grand Atrium. Or wander Lanzarote’s lava fields by day, enjoy a swim with a view in Iona’s Infinity Pool, take your pick of 30 places to wine and dine and relish amazing entertainment in her glass-roofed SkyDome by evening.
What’s more, Iona’s holidays depart directly from Southampton, so you can start your holiday even sooner. And with her exceptional range of accommodation, pools, shows, restaurants and shore experiences, you’ll be spoiled for choice on board. You’ll even sail on the first British cruise ship to be powered by liquefied natural gas – a significant reduction in carbon emissions that will allow us to enjoy more responsible travel for years to come. All you need to do is turn up; we’ll do the rest!
What makes Iona so special?
Spanning two decks with its impressive glass roof, SkyDome is the ideal place for daytime relaxing and amazing evenings of entertainment. Just picture yourself sitting back, your favourite drink in hand, as Norway’s sublime mountains and flower-filled pastures drift by. Or drinking in the Spanish sunshine from the pool as a new island glistens on the horizon. When the sun sets, you can enjoy awe-inspiring aerialist displays and DJ party nights in this must-visit entertainment venue. And with panoramic views of the sea, sky and shore, you never have to miss the spectacular scenery all around you.
Spectacular aerial shows
Brand new for P&O Cruises, we’re working with international entertainment company, Creativiva, to offer something completely different for Iona. With original shows coming to SkyDome and the Grand Atrium, you’ll find yourself transported to another world; filled with acrobatics, aerial acts, physical theatre, dance, music… not to mention flamboyant costumes, impressive sets and so much more.
Local Food Heroes
We’re collaborating with local leading chefs, José Pizarro and Kjartan Skjelde, to bring incredible food experiences to Iona’s holidays. Our Local Food Heroes will bring the thrill of the tapas trail to her winter breaks to Spain, Portugal and the Canary Islands, and the taste of the fjords to Iona’s summer holidays to Norway. With locally sourced ingredients, traditional recipes and menus brimming with authentic flavours, you can continue your exploration through your taste buds.
Introducing Marabelle Gin; a new recipe created exclusively for P&O Cruises. For the 18 botanicals used to create Marabelle Gin, Salcombe Distilling Co. sought inspiration from the British coastline and the island of Iona. Think juniper, heather, sugar kelp, (and for freshness) green apple, blackberry, rose petals, mint... The outcome: a celestial and perfectly balanced gin. Marabelle Gin’s maiden production run will take place in Iona’s custom-made still, Columba; innovated by The Craft Distilling Business, this is the very first distillery at sea.
Welcome to The 710 Club
Curated and crafted by Gary Barlow
As Music Director of The 710 Club on Iona, Gary Barlow is set to make Iona’s intimate music bar the most exciting live music venue at sea... Gary Barlow is bringing his vision and personality to The 710 Club, exclusively on Iona. Atmospheric and low-lit, the club will serve up live music with an unmistakably vintage vibe, stylish cocktails and the most important ingredient of all; a little escapism, to ensure the good times continue long into the night. The stage will light up to the sounds of its talented resident band – a group guided by Gary. Yet his involvement runs far deeper; from choosing music for the club, guiding future performers and up-and-coming talent to even shaping the interiors and signature cocktails.
Please note that this page shows computer-aided drafts of Iona's venues for illustrative purposes.
